Space to adjust when life has changed

When life no longer feels familiar

Loss can affect far more than the part of life that has changed.

You may be grieving someone important, the end of a relationship, retirement, a move, a change in health or ability, or a role and identity that once gave life shape. Some losses are recognised by others; some are carried quietly.

There is no correct order, timetable or way to feel. Grief and adjustment can involve sadness, relief, anger, guilt, numbness, confusion, or several of these at once.

How it can feel

Change can leave you trying to recognise your life and yourself again.

You may be managing daily life while privately feeling unsettled, disconnected or unsure what comes next.

01

Grief that shifts

Feelings may arrive in waves, appear unexpectedly or change from one day to the next. Even moments of calm can bring complicated emotions.

02

A changed sense of self

When a relationship, role or familiar routine ends, you may question who you are now or what still gives life meaning.

03

Living with uncertainty

You may feel pressure to make decisions or move forward before you have had space to understand what the change means for you.

How counselling may help

A place where nothing has to be rushed, tidied away or explained perfectly.

Counselling cannot remove what has happened, but it can offer a reliable relationship in which your experience is taken seriously. You can speak about what you miss, what has changed and what may feel difficult to share elsewhere.

I will not tell you how you should grieve or what your next step ought to be. We can stay with what matters to you, at your pace, and gently explore how you might live alongside loss while reconnecting with your own needs and choices.

How person-centred counselling works →

Tell it your way

Give words to the person, relationship, role or future you have lost without having to protect others or make your feelings simpler.

Notice what you need

Make room for mixed emotions and begin recognising the support, boundaries or gentleness that may help now.

Find your way forward

Explore what continuity, meaning and choice could look like without pressure to forget, replace or simply move on.
